Best Whiskey Bars in Paris

“Well, show me the way//
To the next whisky bar//
Oh, don’t ask why//
Oh, don’t ask why”

With The Doors’ lyrics in my head and thoughts about where to spend my ideal summer during my college years, Paris quickly became my number one choice. I was already, at that time, in love with whiskey and even kept a diary where, among other things, I wrote down the best restaurants, bars or night clubs the City of Lights had to offer. Whiskey bars naturally tended to top my list.

It can often be tricky to find great bars when you’re new in town – and it becomes complicated when you’re in a foreign country and aren’t necessarily good at speaking the local language. Let us make this easier for you and give you our pre-vetted list of places to enjoy a dram when you’re in Paris.

As usual, we’re delighted to have your thoughts in the comments below!

Situated at 20 Rue d’Anjou, 75008, Paris, La Maison du Whiskey (literally The House of Whisky) is the reference for whiskey lovers. Here you’ll find more than 1000 whiskeys from around the world: Ireland, Canada and even Japan. The price range from the affordable – around $30 to the most prestigious – $6000 per bottle.

These guys really know what they’re doing – prepare to get the best whiskey advice you’ve (probably) ever had!

Also in the 8th district, more precisely at 4 Boulevard Malesherbes, 75008 Paris, the Forum will enchant all your senses with it’s cosy atmosphere. Famous for it’s scotch on the rocks and whiskey cocktails, the Forum is more often than not the go-to place for French movie stars and show-biz personalities. Prices range from $25 to $60 a drink.

Situated in the historical and charming district of Marais – 80 Rue François Miron, 75004 Paris, The Auld is an authentic Scottish Pub. Famous for it’s scotch the old-fashioned way, the Auld is the go-to place to taste a true scotch while playing pool or chess. Budget-friendly.

In the hart of Paris at the 14 Rue Saint-Sauveur, 75002 Paris, Le Jefrey’s enchants any visitor with the typical roaring twenties, jazzy atmosphere. You can just lay back, relax, listen to Josephine Baker, enjoy your drink and forget the world outside. A lot of vintage whiskey cocktails such as The Manhattan (which is particularly fabulous at Le Jefrey’s). Price-range is moderate.
