I got the monthly subscription for my boyfriend for his birthday. The first bottle of bourbon came today! I get the best girlfriend award!! All his friends were jealous.
TC came through again in delivering a fantastic bottle of bourbon to dear friends. Thank you.
Definately something to look forward to every month. Always something interesting that i wouldn't likely find otherwise. Would be nice to be able to look back and see what's been sent. Acount just shows the billing. Guess i should have saved the bottles. Theres a few id like to try again.
I have been a subscriber for at least 5 years and to date have only recieved 3 bottles of tequila that I couldn't drink. Many of the bottles have been very rare and hard to find tequilas even on line. A great service and a great way to expand your tequila experience
Got this for my husband for Christmas. He loves the variety and quality of the product.
The best part about this club is that it get's me to try distilleries that I would never discover on my own.
The bourbons have all been excellent, we love the variety! The only challenge is that we have to be home to sign for the delivery and it is difficult to plan for since the delivery date has been unpredictable. All in all, a good investment
I’ve been drinking gin for many years. It’s wonderful to try some different brands and varieties. The curated Gin selection has been amazing! My daughter got me a subscription for three months as a gift, and I continued after that on my own. Every month I look forward to a new selection! Highly recommended!
Bought the bourbon subscription for my husband's birthday and he loves it! Excellent customer service!

Frequently Asked Questions About the Scotch Subscriptions of the Month Clubs
Let us answer some of our most commonly asked questions about the Scotch Subscriptions of the Month Clubs.
Regardless of the scotch subscription, both clubs have a membership that regularly delivers a bottle (or several) to your door, usually monthly or quarterly. We also offer a 3-pack option in both scotch subscriptions, so you’ll receive three bottles at once—no need to wait! If you’d like even more options aside from the selections in our scotch subscriptions, check out our Bottle Shop for one-off bottle purchases, delivered several times throughout the month.
Scotch whisky is usually bottled at 40% or 43% ABV, but for a cask strength offering, this will jump to 50%-mid 60% ABV, give or take. However, if a scotch whisky is of considerable age, it will often drop in the mid to low 40s due to the environment in which it matured.
We don’t just send you a bottle in our scotch subscriptions; we take you on a journey from the creation of the bottle to the first sip. Scotch is a type of whiskey made in Scotland from grain, malt, or a blend of both, but it’s mostly malted barley. For scotch to be considered scotch, it must be aged in oak barrels for three years minimum, though most sit for 12-25 years and even up to five decades. It also must have an ABV of at least 40%. With our scotch subscriptions, we ensure that we check all of these boxes so you know you’re only getting the best scotches available in the market.
With our scotch subscriptions, we’re continually expanding our relationships with distilleries and independent bottlers around the world, where some are renowned worldwide and others are hidden gems. Our curator dedicates himself to seeking out the most unique, hard-to-find bottles with unique production styles, ingredients, and barrel finishes to bring you the best scotch club experience. The name whiskey or whisky is based on the type of cereal grain used in the distilling process as well as how and where it was produced. Generally speaking, it’s spelled “whiskey”—with an e—in the United States and Ireland. It is spelled “whisky”—without the e—in Scotland, Canada, and several other countries.
This “rule” wasn’t fixed until the 20th century. Up until then, the extra ‘e’ was used inconsistently. It’s believed that during the 19th century, Ireland’s distillers began to use the ‘e’ as a way to differentiate their whiskeys from Scottish whisky. Spelling their spirits differently gave the Irish another way to distinguish between the two. So, in the end, the Irish stuck with the ‘e’; the Scots didn’t. Canada maintained the ‘Scottish’ spelling, while America chose the “whiskey” spelling.
However, just to add an extra layer of complexity, some American-made whiskeys disregard the traditional American spelling. For example, Maker’s Mark adopts the Scottish spelling as a tribute to the Samuels family’s Scots-Irish ancestors.
Another thing to note is how a whisk(e)y is made. Whisky is distilled twice in Scotland, and whiskey is usually distilled two times in the United States. In Ireland, however, whiskey is usually distilled three times.
There are five different types of Scotch, including three blends that make up about 90% of the Scotch bottles sold each year.
- Single malt Scotch is made from water and malted barley only, with a pot still distillation batch process, at a single distillery.
- Single grain Scotch is made from water, malted barley, and whole grains or malted or unmalted cereals at a single distillery.
- A combination of at least one single malt Scotch with at least one single grain Scotch is known as blended Scotch.
- Blended malt Scotch is a combination of at least two single malt Scotches from different distilleries.
- A combination of at least two blended single grain Scotches from at least two distilleries is called blended grain Scotch.
You can learn more in our blog post Scotch vs Whiskey.
- First, you’ll need a glass. The Glencairn is the industry standard, and nowadays it’s easy to find. Then, pour yourself about an ounce of whisky.
- Examine the whisky for color and consistency. Is it light-colored, like straw or white wine? Or is it dark like amber or mahogany? Color can be an indicator of flavor, but not always, as some Scotch producers add caramel coloring to deepen the shade.
- Next, take a sniff. The range of aromas in Scotch can be remarkable, from sweet notes like raspberry and toffee, to funky aromas like seaweed, kippers, or even Band-Aids. A tasting wheel can help you identify different notes.
- Now, take a small sip, allowing the whisky to sit on your palate for a few seconds before swallowing. Breathe out your nose, noticing how the quality and intensity of the flavor changes. Is it sweet? Fruity? Tart? Earthy? Smoky? Do you notice flavors that could be attributed to special casks that may have been used during aging, like sherry casks or wine casks? Lastly, and most importantly, do you like drinking it? Hopefully, the answer is yes—and if it’s no, well, never fear, because there’s almost certainly a Scotch out there for you.
