from 150 reviewsI have been a subscriber for at least 5 years and to date have only recieved 3 bottles of tequila that I couldn't drink. Many of the bottles have been very rare and hard to find tequilas even on line. A great service and a great way to expand your tequila experience
Got this for my husband for Christmas. He loves the variety and quality of the product.
The best part about this club is that it get's me to try distilleries that I would never discover on my own.
The bourbons have all been excellent, we love the variety! The only challenge is that we have to be home to sign for the delivery and it is difficult to plan for since the delivery date has been unpredictable. All in all, a good investment
I’ve been drinking gin for many years. It’s wonderful to try some different brands and varieties. The curated Gin selection has been amazing! My daughter got me a subscription for three months as a gift, and I continued after that on my own. Every month I look forward to a new selection! Highly recommended!
Bought the bourbon subscription for my husband's birthday and he loves it! Excellent customer service!
I’ve been gifting this subscription to my brother in law for 5 years now. Every Christmas I ask if he wants me to switch it up and he says no. He loves the email and enclosed information on the bottle. He loves the uniqueness to them and says they taste great.
Very nice bottle of Scotch. He is enjoying it
This is a great gift! Very happy with Taster’s Club!
Purchased this for my husband for Christmas. We have been enjoying every month’s new variety and flavor. Great selection and love the recipes that come in the emails.
I love the variety and I wouldn't have necessarily bought them without the subscription
Very good at providing status updates and very responsive to inquiries.
Very happy with my subscription. I'm in a location without much of a selection available and this is a great supplement.
This is a great way to build your bourbon collection.
This is a great way to explore gins from a variety of sources that you otherwise wouldn’t come across. Good value for money and well curated choices, especially those gins from outside of the US.

Frequently Asked Questions
Let us answer some of our most commonly asked questions.
A Tequila of the Month Club is a membership that delivers a bottle (or several) to your door at regular intervals, usually monthly or quarterly. At Taster’s Club, we ship our bottles once a month. We also offer a 3-pack option, so you’ll receive three bottles at once- no need to wait! If you’d like even more options, check out our Bottle Shop for one-off bottle purchases, delivered throughout the month.
Tequila and its sister, mezcal, are made from agave, an enormous spiny plant that grows throughout Central America. Tequila must be made from a specific kind of agave called Blue Weber Agave, and it must be produced within a specific geographic region centered around Jalisco. However, mezcal can be made in a wider geographical distribution, and distillers can use a broader range of agave species, including wild agave.
Tequila is made from Blue Weber Agave in Mexico with the alcohol concentration of typically about 40% ABV.
Workers trim the agave of its huge spikes to get to its heart, called the piña, rich in complex carbohydrates and sugars. The piñas are roasted to soften and caramelize them, then milled and pressed to extract the juice. For Tequila, most distilleries use either brick ovens called hornos or stainless steel autoclaves to cook the piñas. Mezcal producers often roast their piñas in earthen pits with wood or coal, giving them a smoky flavor. Most modern distilleries use shredders and roller mills to get at the juice. However, a handful of traditional operators still use a tahona, a circular stone mill usually powered by a mule, to grind the piñas.
Once the juice is extracted, it’s fermented, sometimes by wild yeast, sometimes by introduced yeast, and often with a combination of the two. Then it’s distilled, traditionally twice on a pot still, but many modern distilleries also use column stills. Some mezcals are produced on clay or even leather stills – wild!
In Mexico, Tequila and mezcal are traditionally consumed unaged, called blanco. From one perspective, that makes a lot of sense. Agave takes a very long time to grow, with some species requiring more than a decade in the ground to reach maturity. Some say Tequila’s aging happens on the agricultural end, during all those long years when the agave grows in the field. But as whiskey-loving Americans have become more excited about tequila, the industry has introduced several oak-aged variants.
We don’t just send you a bottle; we take you on a journey, from the creation of the bottle to the first sip. Each bottle is specifically curated for you, so you know you’re not just receiving a random bottle. Different options help expand your palate and help you discern what you truly like. We also help enhance your liquor knowledge with our Digital 101s, full of info unique to each bottle and expert tasting notes. Taster’s Club is trusted by large media outlets like Buzzfeed, Esquire, Forbes, and Men’s Journal, as well as thousands of members all over the US.
We’re continually expanding our networks and strengthening our relationships with distilleries in Jalisco and the brands that represent them. Our Curator dedicates himself to seeking out the most unique, hard-to-find bottles from award-winning craft and artisan distilleries. Tequilas are chosen for their unique production styles, ingredients, aging techniques, and barrel finishes. We even offer bottles Exclusive to Taster’s Club with limited production and availability, so you know you’re getting something special.
We like to feature various tequilas so you can explore different flavors, expand your palate, and enhance your whiskey knowledge. You’ll receive tequila from both the Highlands and the Lowlands, each offering either more earthy or more sweet flavors, depending on the altitude, environment, and soil in which the agave grows. You’ll also receive high-quality tequilas, including Blancos (or Silvers), Reposados, and Añejos. If you’re a member of the Tequila PRO Club, you’ll also receive tequilas with extra-long age statements, such as añejos aged to their max limit and extra añejos, aged for three years or longer- all hand-crafted by award-winning distilleries in Jalisco. Many of these are family-owned and operated on small farms, giving the selections a local craft artisan feel. Occasionally, we’ll also feature Cristalino tequilas. These are añejos or extra añejos that have been filtered with activated charcoal to remove the color from the liquid and enhance its fruity and floral character. The result is a clear tequila, similar to a Blanco, while retaining the taste and aroma profile of a barrel-aged tequila.
Those days of cheap shots served alongside a bowl of lime wedges and a shaker of salt? Those are over. Today, tequila belongs alongside fine spirits like Cognac, single malt Scotch, and bourbon, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
First things first: Put the shot glass away. For good tequila, it’s all about taking your time, not getting it down fast. You want a glass that’s relatively tall and narrow, with a slight curve to the sides. Riedel manufactures a great glass just for tequila, but a Glencairn glass, champagne flute, or white wine glass can work well, too.
Pour the tequila, then observe its color and texture. Is it crystal clear, indicating a blanco tequila? Does it have an amber tone, indicating oak aging? How viscous does it look in the glass?
Next, nose the tequila. Gently sniff near the rim of the glass, moving your nose closer or farther away to find the distance that works best for you. Don’t sniff too aggressively, or you won’t get much beyond alcohol vapor.
Now, it’s time to taste. Take a small sip, let it coat your tongue for a few seconds, then swallow and breathe out your nose to encourage retronasal olfaction, the secondary perception of aromas that takes place when you eat or drink. Notice any particular fruit, mineral, flower, or oak notes, as well as the length and quality of the finish.
We love sipping tequila straight, but it’s also the base for several classic cocktails, including one of the world’s most iconic drinks, the Margarita. There are endless Margarita variations, but sometimes simple is best.
- Blanco or silver is unaged tequila.
- Reposado, a word that means “rested,” is aged for less than one year in an oak cask.
- Añejo, “old” tequila is aged up to three years in an oak cask
- Extra-Añejo pr “extra old,” means tequila is aged up to five years in oak.
Any spirit distilled from the agave plant, which is a succulent native to Mexico and Texas, is considered mezcal. So, mezcal encompasses other liquors from agave that you’ve seen around including tequila, raicilla, bacanora, and sotol. When you think of mezcal vs. tequila, remember that tequila is a type of mezcal, similar to how bourbon and scotch are types of whiskey.
Over 200 varieties of agave grow in Mexico’s countryside, yet only 50 or so can be used to make the spirit. And, the majority of mezcal is made from the fastest-growing varietal, Espadin, which takes about seven years compared to three decades that other agave varietals can take. There are also mezcal “ensembles”, or those made from a blend of agave types. However, when it comes to the spirit’s flavor and character profile, production methods have a much bigger impact than the agave variety does.
Distilled mezcal ranges widely in flavor and quality, and it sits between 38% and 55% ABV (alcohol by volume).
We have a club for every taste. If you can’t choose just one, check out our Stock the Bar Club, which features a different alcohol type each month.
